“Self-Portrait in airplane bathroom,” 2023

Welcome to Bobby's New "Rabbit" Photo-Journal Blog

April 28, 2026

This is the first is what I intend to be a regular sharing of my various “rabbit” wanderings and creative doodlings via email. My goal is to send out one of these every week or two, and possibly start an archive of them linked to my website, or in my old Rabbit blog.

I’ve decided to adopt this way of sharing, rather than spending so much time posting on social media. I’m pretty tired of the endless scroll of ads and influencers, staring at my screen for hours every day. I hope this will be a more personal way to connect with all of you, and enable you to respond directly back to me via email.

Why is this called Rabbit? Well some of you have seen, or possibly own my book by the same name. And before I got active on Instagram, I had been pretty busy keeping up a blog called Rabbit. Anyway, the short answer is it’s kind a catch phrase for my general restless creative energy, and longing for connection. (If you own the Rabbit book, and you haven’t opened the afterward letter already, you can open it now and find out a little more.)

This first newsletter is a bit of a trial balloon, so things will likely change over the next few months, but I wanted to get it rolling. I welcome your email responses and feedback. Let me know what works, and what doesn’t.

If you’re receiving this newsletter, it’s because you were either on a previous email list of mine, or because you responded to some recent posts of mine on IG. If at any point you decide receiving these newsletters is not for you, simply scroll down to the bottom of the message and click “opt out.” Alternately, if you know of someone else you think would like to start receiving them, simply have them email me, and I’ll add them to the list.

wishing you all a very happy spring!

-Bobby

Recent Paintings:

I thought I would start off with sharing some of my pencil and watercolor work from the past 5 years. (All of these are done from photographs.) While I continue to shoot photographs every day, I’m hoping to be doing a lot more painting in the coming years!

Current & Upcoming News & Events:

  • Six of my photographs will be included in the next show at Blue Sky Gallery in “Blue Sky 50 Years Anniversary Exhibition: 2005 - 2015.” The exhibit runs May 7 - 30, 2026. The opening reception is Thursday May 7, 5-9PM. I’ll be at the gallery from 5-7PM for the reception. I would love to see you there!

  • One of my photographs is included in the current photography exhibit “Together” at the Portland Art Museum, on display until November 20, 2026.

  • Lastly, as some of you know, I’ve been pretty active in shooting photos with a Nikonos IVa underwater film camera. Two of these photos are part of the online exhibit at Blue Sky called “The Water Show” (click here to see the gallery of images).
