Back in April I shared some of my most recent photos with my Nikonos IVa. But I thought I would go back and dig through my other favorites from the past few years. So here’s a bunch (I’m hoping to set up a gallery of these on my website soon):
This photo above is of my nephew Ben surfing in San Diego. I had forgotten to push the rewind nob back down after loading film, and salt water leaked into the camera. The camera and most of the roll were toast, but I did manage to get this very “happy accident” image out of the mishap.
Below is a snorkeling/sailing trip off the coast of Key West, Florida.
The next 4 images below are snorkeling off the coast of San Agustinillo, Oaxaca, Mexico.
the next 3 images below are on an excursion to go swimming with humpback whales a couple miles off the coast of Moorea, French Polynesia.
The next 2 images are from Bora Bora, French Polynesia. The first was another happy accident, my film wasn’t loaded properly, so it wasn’t advancing fully. The result is the overlapping of 3 different frames to make a cool panorama of Polynesian kids playing in the Bora Bora lagoon.
The next 13 images are from San Agustinillo, Oaxaca, Mexico.
These last 5 images below are shot in around the Pacific Northwest. The first is of my good friend Jason on Lake Merwin. The next 2 are of Mary in Lacamas Lake, Washington. The remaining three are on the Willamette and Columbia Rivers in Portland.
(photo above is of me, shot by my friend Keith with my Nikonos camera.)
Here is a better look at the Nikonos IVa below. What I love about it is that you can shoot both above and below the water with the 35mm lens on it. So whenever I plan to swim or kayak, or just be near the water, I can carry it with me constantly. If I want to jump into the water, I take the camera with me! (I wear those big red/white buoy floats on the camera in case it slips off my neck in deep water. It would sink pretty quickly to the bottom without them!)
